The Australian Government Department of Human Services, through MyAgedCare, provides funding to support and care for elderly Australians. There are four programs available through MyAgedCare with an increasing level of support and funding.
The four types of aged care services provided by the Government are 1) Short Term Restorative Care, 2) Commonwealth Home Support Program, 3) Home Care Packages and 4) Residential Aged Care. For more information on each of these, click the links below.
For all of them, you must first apply to MyAgedCare who will assess your eligibility for one or other of these programs.
Aston Home Care is an authorised provider of Home Care Packages. If you feel you need help at home and want to know your options, or have been assessed and allocated a Home Care Package, then Aston Home Care can help. We do not currently offer government subsidised services under the other programs but can offer them privately.
Every person’s needs are unique. Some may require assistance with vacuuming; others may need a podiatrist to cut their toenails. Some may need nursing care or physiotherapy; others may want help mowing the lawn. Some may just want a companion to keep them company, drive them to the doctors or just out for a cup of coffee.
Services can be provided for short-term situations such as after an illness or injury, when you may need assistance for a temporary period while you return to independence. Aston Home Care does not currently provide services under this program, but we can provide them to you privately. For more information on the Short-Term Restorative Care Program or find a local provider of these services see the MyAgedCare website.
The Commonwealth Home Support Program provides funding for entry-level services such as help
with housework, personal care, meal preparation, transport, shopping, allied health, social support,
and planned respite (giving your carer a break). These services may be short-term or ongoing. Aston
Home Care does not currently provide services under this program, but we can provide them to you
privately. For more information on the Commonwealth Home Support Program or find a local
provider of these services see the MyAgedCare website.
The Home Care Packages Program provides ongoing support ranging from basic services (such as
help with cleaning, companionship, cleaning, transport or personal care) to services of a more
complex nature (such as nursing care, allied health care, or other clinical services). Aston Home Care
is an authorised provider of Home Care Packages. For more information on Home Care Packages

When your need for support becomes so great that it can no longer be provided in your own home, the Government subsidises Residential Aged Care or (Nursing Homes). Aston Home Care does not offer residential aged care. We can however help you transition from your Home Care Package into residential aged care when and if circumstances require. For more information on Residential Aged Care or to find a local provider of these services see the MyAgedCare website.
